If you follow the Sweet SweetGeorgia Ravelry group, or local West coast knitter MisoCrafty’s blog, you may already know that our first knitalong/crochetalong of 2014 has begun! It started on January 15th and will run until April 1st, so you’ve got lots of time to get involved.

The theme this time around is Stash Busting! Have a look at the rules in the photos-only thread and run over to the KAL chat thread if you’ve got questions. You get extra entries into the end-of KAL draw if you do colourwork projects, and there is a definite colourwork theme to the prizes we’ll have waiting for the winners.

We released a whole bushel of colourwork patterns using SweetGeorgia yarns in the last few months. Our range of shades offers so many possibilities to change the feel and tone of the patterns — go higher contrast, stick with neutrals, or choose to do the background of the chart with multiple colours to create even more of a fair-isle feel to your work. Have look at Felicia’s post on colourway pairing for some thoughts on picking combinations.

M K Nance’s Fleeceflower Tam & Mitts is done with a single skein of each colour of our BFL Sock, and the designer had enough yarn left over to design and knit the CCC Hat.

Multi-colour patterns from SweetGeorgia: Cordatus Cowl & Mitts, Bloodwood Cowl, Resonance Cardi, Tilt & Stack Gauntlets

Also coming soon… a post on the Ravellenics running February 7-23 and an update from the recent Winter TNNA in San Diego!

I’m game and am excited about knitting the Bloodwood Cowl. How do I join the KAL? It is my first one?
